Regional Geography for Teachers & Pupils
On Nov. 06, 2015, the Regional Applied Research Conference “Modern Issues & Solutions of Regional Geography” has taken place at the Department of Geology & Geography of Astrakhan State University.
The event agenda has included the Autumn Regional Workshop of the Astrakhan School Geographical Society and the round-table talk for teachers “Geographical Education: New Technologies for Higher & Secondary Educational System”.
Over 170 schoolchildren, their parents, university students, teachers, and professors of Astrakhan Region have gathered at the Conference. They have analyzed the main issues of the present-day geographical education and shared their experience of researches in Geography.
Students of ASU have given reports and presentations about their field practical training in the Bogdo-Baskunchak Natural Preserve located in the north of Astrakhan Region, as well as about their travels to various regions of Russia – Tuva, Saint Petersburg, the Northern Caucasus, and Kazan, about their participating in recent ecological events, and about their water excursion to the Astrakhan Nature Preserve.
Dr. Marina Bezuglova, who is an Associate Professor of our University and Chairperson of the Astrakhan School Geographical Society, has announced upcoming creative and research contests for schoolchildren in five nominations; she has told about activities performed by the Society in details and invited everyone to participate in the Spring Workshop to be held on March 25, 2016.
In early November 2015, the photo exhibition “Earth as Seen by a Geographer” and the graphical exhibition “Sketches of Astrakhan Region’s Nature” have been arranged in the Assembly Hall of the Innovative Institute of Natural Sciences of ASU. The participants and the winners have obtained diplomas and prizes, whereas their teachers have got letters of commendation.
