“Educational Traveling” of Foreigners
Reps of the Astrakhan Branch of the Foreign Students Association have taken part in the 5th All-Russian Congress of Foreign Students in Russia.
It was Volgograd State Technical University that has hosted the event. The Congress took place on Oct. 21-24, 2015. Issues of foreign students’ adaptation to the Russian society, issues of international unity, and ways to tackle foreign students’ problems have been under consideration at the event.
The Congress has been dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Russia’s Victory over Nazi Germany. Delegates from various countries (Benin, Mexico, Chad, Ruanda, Guinea-Bissau, Ghana, Cameroon, Kazakhstan, Russia, etc.) have come to the Congress. The event agenda has included plenary sessions related to international cooperation in the field of education, as well as entertaining excursions to see the sights of Volgograd, which is also known worldwide as Stalingrad, the site of the famous battle of WW2.
Our people confess: “Our hosts received us warm-heartedly. We discussed issues foreign students often face when they study in Russia: overcoming of the language barrier, adaptation to the educational process, accommodation in a hostel where people from many countries live, migration legislation, and so on. In general, the Congress met our expectations: we made friends with interesting people and got so much useful information. We’ll certainly develop cooperation between Branches of the Foreign Students Association in Russia”.
