Discussion to Prevent Extremism & Terrorism
In late October 2015, the Seminar “Interethnic Concordance as Key Issue in Multiethnic Country” concerning prevention of extremism and terrorism has taken place at the Astrakhan Regional Scientific Library. Reps of ASU have been its participants.
The event has been arranged by Astrakhan State University and by the Etnomix Center of Interethnic Communications that operates at the Astrakhan Branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.
Our students specializing in international relations, in international law, and in Law Science have taken part in the seminar. Professor Lyudmila Baeva, Dean of our Department of Social Communications, has given her report “Issues of Interethnic Relations within Southern Russia’s Frontier & Cultural Security in This Region”, whereas Layla Zulkorneeva, a master course student of the same Department, has presented her report “Research of Tolerance Issues among Astrakhan Region’s Young People at ASU (Sociological Analysis)”.
Dr. Eldar Idrisov, an executive of the Astrakhan Branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, has been the distinguished guest at the seminar. The theme of his report was “Specifics of Youth-Related Work in Ethnic and Cultural Education, with Astrakhan Region’s Public Associations as Examples”.
All the speeches have been of applied research character; they have presented particular analyses of relevant issues in the field of interethnic relations in Astrakhan Region, so they have been of profound interest for the participants of the seminar.
