Autumn as Time to Summarize Summer Training

In late October 2015, the Thematic Week “2015 Summer” has passed at Astrakhan State University; its goal was to summarize the outcomes of our students’ summer practical training.

Our University has gained interesting experience in arrangement of our students’ practical training at summer recreational camps for kids. This year, our students could work as camp counselors, supervisors, and sports instructors at camps located in Astrakhan Region or at the Black Sea coast. Students of several Departments (Foreign Languages; Historical; Social Communications; Pedagogics, Social Work and Physical Training; Philology and Journalism) have covered their practical training programs there.

Management and executives of Astrakhan Region’s summer camps for kids, reps of legal authorities whose activities are related to working with kids and teenagers, and senior camp counselors from a number of regional organizations that educate and develop kids have been distinguished guests as our students’ training supervisors and future employers at the Thematic Week.

The Week has officially been opened with a concert given by our students; the students have jokingly parodied a typical day of a camp counselor. After the concert, Prof. Alexander Treshyov, our Vice Rector for Academic Activities, has given a welcoming speech. He has thanked the distinguished guests for their cooperation in arrangement of our students’ summer training, thanks to what they could gain useful practical experience. According to him, our future pedagogues will become skilled specialists and worthy alumni of our University, as they are young and full of energy and enthusiasm.

The official opening ceremony has been followed by round-table talks. Reps of potential employers have thanked our students for their good job this summer and wished their cooperation went on next summer. In their turn, our students have expressed their views on such interaction. They have also presented a model of network cooperation that implies a year-round process of their preparation for pedagogical activities at a recreational camp for kids.

The entire event also involves activities in various fields. In particular, the School of Camp Counselors has been launched at Astrakhan State University; its graduates shall officially be certified.
