We Are Students Now!

On Oct. 05, 2015, the official ceremony of initiation of newly-enrolled young people into students of the Department of Pedagogics, Social Work, and Physical Training has taken place at Astrakhan State University.

The event has been held in the Assembly Hall of the Department. It became our good tradition long ago. This year, students of five groups have had to swear the student oath. Each of them is to master one of the following specialties: Special (Speech Pathology) Education, Psychology and Social Pedagogics, Social & Cultural Activities, Primary School Education, or Physical Training. They have also given their concert numbers to demonstrate their talents and specific features of their future professions. Our undergraduate students helped them prepare their performances by supervising their rehearsals.

“This project makes it possible for our newly-enrolled students to pass through the adaptation period within just one month: their senior peers tell them about the corporate culture of our Department, about specific features of our educational process, and about a number of other essential things. We think the principle “equals teach equals” is the most efficient one not just for our students’ socialization, but also for their professional development. As for our undergraduates, they get unique practical training in their future specializations, as all the specialties our Department delivers imply being able to supervise a team”, Professor Galina Palatkina, Dean of the Department, points out.

The ceremony has been dedicated to the Teacher’s Day. Our students’ vocal and dancing numbers have become a splendid present for our faculty staff. Our professors were happy to see solos by Elena Rozhdestvenskaya, Anastasia Butyrkina, Erna Drozdova, Alena Basova, and Polina Lisovaya. The team “Fusion Dance” headed by Luanna Vassilyeva has performed a bright dance on the scene.

At the end of the event, the hymn of the Department has been sung by the participants of the ceremony.

In her speech, Professor Palatkina has congratulated the new students on joining the large and friendly family; she has also congratulated her colleagues on their professional holiday.

The event has also been covered by the local Sem Plus TV channel, as Kirill Butenko, one of its correspondents, studies Psychology and Social Pedagogics at Astrakhan State University.
