New Graduates of School of Parliamentary Journalism

In late June 2015, a ceremony of granting certificates of professional qualification to students of Astrakhan State University, who took part in the regional educational project “School of Parliamentary Journalism”, has taken place in the Duma (Parliament) of Astrakhan Region.

The School of Parliamentary Journalism is a joint project by the Regional Duma and by Astrakhan State University. It is delivered at ASU’s Department of Philology & Journalism within the operational program ‘Fundamentals of Analytical Journalism”. From February to June 2015, the trainees were being supervised by members of the Regional Parliament to study fundamentals of legislation and specific features of media coverage of regional parliamentary activities. Members of the Parliament and key journalists of Astrakhan Region’s mass media have been sharing their professional experience with our students. The young journalists have learnt a lot about nuances of work with legislation documents and felt the true atmosphere of regional political activities. Granting certificates to graduates of the School of Parliamentary Journalism, Mr. Alexander Klykanov, Chairman of the Regional Duma, has remarked: “This program is indeed successful and efficient. Now each of you is well-prepared to work at regional legislation authorities”. This has been the second group of graduates; a new group is to be trained next academic year.
