Dialogue with Public Prosecutor

A meeting between Astrakhan Region’s public prosecutors and students has recently been held at Astrakhan State University.

This event has been initiated by the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation; the Regional Agency for Youth-Related Affairs has backed it. A number of officials have taken part in it – Mr. Sagandzhi Tarbayev (Chairman of the Commission on Support of Youth Initiatives of the Civic Chamber), Mr. Sultan Khamzayev (Mr. Tarbayev’s First Deputy and Head of the “Sober Russia” Federal Project), Mr. Oleg Dupak (Prosecutor of Astrakhan Region), and Mr. Alexander Petrov (Prosecutor of the city of Astrakhan). The meeting has presented findings of the recent monitoring that indicates the current scale of children’s and teenagers’ consumption of alcohol and narcotic drugs, as well as the current crime rate among them. A number of other crucial issues have been put into consideration, too: sale of energetic drinks, promotion of synthetic cannabis, teenagers’ dependence on arcade machines, child neglect, and juvenile delinquencies.

Mr. Dupak, Prosecutor of Astrakhan Region, has said that he is ready to cooperate with young students to overcome such issues: “This is the first full-scale meeting between socially active young people and public prosecutors in our Region, and I think that’s a really important event for both parties. That’s essential, as you, young people of Astrakhan, are our strategic resource: that’s up to you to develop the present and create the future”. As a result of the meeting, it has been suggested to establish a youth coordination council.
