All-Russian Forum of Students

On May 22, the All-Russian Forum of Students “Quality of Education: International Experience & Best Russian Practices” has been opened at Astrakhan State University.

The goal of the Forum is to present and promote the best international and Russian practices to involve students in enhancement of quality of educational services, to exchange experience with our foreign partners.

The Forum has been organized by Astrakhan State University, by the Ministry of Education & Science of Astrakhan Region, by the Commission for Issues of Quality of Education of the Federal Ministry of Education & Science, and by the Russian Public Organization “For Quality Education”. Over 150 students, professors, and experts from 15 universities of Russia, South Korea, the United States, and France are participating in the current Forum.

During the official opening ceremony, Prof. Alexander Lunyov, Rector of ASU, has emphasized the necessity to introduce the principle of continuous enhancement into educational practices. According to him, that contributes to improvement of educational services significantly. As for Mr. Vitaliy Gutman, Minister of Education & Science of Astrakhan Region, he has said that an event of such a high level is a historic event for Astrakhan Region’s educational system, as it is the first time that not just professors and experts, but also students are actively involved in discussion of relevant issues of education modernization. Mr. Antoniy Shvindt, Chairman of the Commission for Issues of Quality of Education of the Ministry of Education & Science of the Russian Federation, has pointed out that it is necessary to create mechanisms of public accreditation of educational programs. Ms. Ekaterina Azizova, Deputy Chief of the Agency for Youth-Related Affairs of Astrakhan Region, has accentuated the significance of the Forum as a site to exchange experience; she has wished its participants to get the best of this event.
The following issues are to be under consideration at the Forum: international and Russian experience of students’ councils for quality of education; quality of education and international student project teams; models of student tutoring and mentoring; experience in introduction of tools “equals teach equals”; studies within large teams and professors’ teamwork; cognitive models in education quality management; student socialization platforms to develop teambuilding and leadership.

The range of experts has included Prof. Cher de Rossiter (Clark University, USA), Prof. Bruce Leimsidor (the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy), Prof. Hekyung Kim (Dongseo University, South Korea), Prof. Glaznova (Saint Petersburg State University), and Prof. Goroshnikova (the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation).

The event includes round tables, discussion sites, master classes, practical workshops, trainings, and briefing sessions.
