New Drawing Exhibition in University Mirror Hall
A new exhibition of drawings by students of Astrakhan State University’s Department of Architecture & Design has been opened in the University Mirror Hall.
Our Chair of Painting & Drawing has presented its exposition of works by our students. The theme of the exposition is “Architectural Open Air”. It presents on-location sketches of both particular buildings of Astrakhan and its streets. A number of old buildings of the 19th century, which are monuments of the then Russian art of architecture, have been sketched – dwelling houses, theaters, office buildings, chapels, to say nothing of a number of Astrakhan’s ancient narrow streets and lanes. The students have applied various techniques: watercolor, pencil, drawing ink, charcoal, and sanguine. The future architects are going to create their own projects of buildings and constructions by studying architectural forms of the 19th and 20th centuries, to embody their own vision of the urban architectural space of the 21st century.
