Party of World War Two Poetry & Songs

In middle May, a party of military poetry and songs dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Russia’s Victory over Nazi Germany has taken place at Astrakhan State University.

This event has been arranged by the Trade Union of ASU together with our Department of Social Communications and with our Department of Philology & Journalism. The poems and songs presented by students of our University emotionally and wholeheartedly were a real echo of those hard years. The event presenters reminded about the main milestones of the Great Patriotic War and emphasized its national character. A number of our students told the audience about their great-grandparents who took part in the war. The audience could imagine Nazi invaders’ atrocities and war crimes in Russia, and the sung songs left nobody indifferent. There was a real unity of all who was present at the event, when everyone was singing songs of those times as a single choir. This party has proved that the Great Patriotic War of Russia against the Third Reich is not a faraway historic event for our students, but a living memory, which is making links between generations stronger and stronger, as years are passing by.
