Researchers of Astrakhan State University have presented their innovative development “Navigation Device for People with Malfunctions of Visual Apparatus” at the Astrakhan Regional Office of the All Russia Association of the Blind.

Alexander Savkin, who invented this device, and Alexey Rybakov, who directs ASU’s Institute of Researches & Solutions to Technological Tasks, have visited the Regional Office of the All Russia Association of the Blind to demonstrate a prototype of the invention that is intended for people with eyesight disorders. The device makes it possible to detect obstacles and orient within an urban area. This is not their first meeting: our inventors regularly meet those for whom their inventions are intended. Five items of the final version of the invention are to be manufactured for a testing group. The testing group members will try the device to reveal its drawbacks and errors of its electronic scheme. According to Mr. Alexander Romanov, Chairman of the Astrakhan Regional Office of the All Russia Association of the Blind, the navigation device is definitely necessary; it must be introduced into everyday lives of people with special eyesight needs.
