First Night of “Richard III”: Theatrical Performance at ASU
In early March 2015, the performance “Richard III” by William Shakespeare has been staged at Astrakhan State University. A number of well-known actors and actresses of Astrakhan have taken part in the performance. The bright and modern staging has been a gift for our faculty staff and students.
Mr. Alexey Matveev, who directed the performance, participates in our University’s cultural activities regularly. He has staged a large number of our students’ theatrical performances; besides, he is a member of our faculty staff. In addition, many other well-known Astrakhan artists have taken part in the play – Pavel Ondrin, Igor Vakulin, Violetta Vlasenko, Stanislav Zhuravlev, etc.
Fans of drama performances could feel a true atmosphere of the epoch of English palace revolutions and coups d’état. Artistic developments by the performance director, the musical accompaniment, and the scene layout have made the staging even more interesting. The play has really kept the audience in suspense during the whole dynamically developing plot of the tragedy.
“Richard III” is not the last first night at Astrakhan State University. A number of new performances are to be presented in 2015.
