Information Day at ASU

On February 05, the Reading Hall of ASU hosted the Day of Information arranged by our Scientific Library jointly with the Chair of Foreign History & Regional Countries and the Chair of Russia’s History.

Staff of the Library has told the faculty staff of the Historical Department a lot about new academic and scientific literature; they have informed them how much literature is available for each particular historical discipline. In particular, each and every 1st-year-student of the Historical Department is given 10 to 15 books that are necessary for their studies.

According to statistic data collected by the University Library, 75 % of books in its book stock are demanded actively; 8, 000 books make up the stock of its Unit of Scientific Literature; the Reading Hall has 20 different names of historical periodical editions available for any reader; the Library provides access to six historical electronic journals. Staff of the Library has shown what opportunities electronic library systems provide; any student and any professor registered at the Library can always obtain a free access to them.

Book exhibitions have been an integral part of the event. Prof. Elena Timofeeva, Dean of the Historical Department, Ms. Natalya Proshunina, Director of the Scientific Library, and Heads of Chairs of the Historical Department have expressed their suggestions and proposals to enhance services provided for students and for professors.
