Turkmen Students Meet Their Consul & Astrakhan Regional Governor
On Oct. 12, 2015, Mr. Alexander Zhilkin, Governor of Astrakhan Region, and Mr. Mekan Ishankuliev, Consul of Turkmenistan to Astrakhan, have met Turkmen students who study at Astrakhan State University.
It was not by chance ASU has been selected as the venue for this event: in comparison with other educational institutions of Astrakhan, we have the maximal number of Turkmen students (about 300 people).
Rector Alexander Lunyov has opened the event. He has remarked that citizens of Turkmenistan are of great value for people of Astrakhan to set up both business and informal relations. “You make our life richer; you’re its integral part”, this is what Prof. Lunyov has said to his Turkmen audience.
As for the Regional Governor, he has pointed out: “Astrakhan Region is interested to provide comfortable conditions for foreign citizens studying at our educational institutions, so that they could get profound knowledge”.
As for the Consul of Turkmenistan, on behalf of his countrypeople studying in Astrakhan, he has thanked Astrakhan Region for its warm-hearted hospitality and for a splendid chance to obtain high-quality education. He has also remarked that the number of Turkmen students in Astrakhan is growing every year, which indicates positive dynamics in the development of good relations between Russia and Turkmenistan. Besides good health and luck, the Consul has wished his country people to be always worthy representatives of their country in Russia.
The meeting has been held mainly as a dialogue: the Turkmen students asked questions related to their professional development, about social benefits for students, about practical training programs, etc. They have thanked Rector Lunyov for realization of students’ socialization projects at our University, thanks to which they can demonstrate their talents, meet interesting people, and develop their abilities and skills.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Zhilkin has wished the students good luck in their studies and in their future careers.
