Victory Tree in University Park

In middle April 2015, students of Astrakhan State University have taken part in the event “Victory Tree” as a part of the upcoming celebration of the 70th anniversary of Russia’s victory over Nazi Germany.
The event “Victory Tree” has been arranged by the Ministry of Education & Science of Astrakhan Region; it aims to create a “living” memorial to the 1945 Victory. A number of Astrakhan Region’s top officials have come to the event – Mr. Alexander Zhilkin (Governor of Astrakhan Region), Mr. Vitaliy Gutman (Minister of Education & Science of Astrakhan Region), Mr. Oleg Polumordvinov (Chief of Astrakhan City Administration), and Ms. Elena Simeonova (Mayor of Astrakhan). According to the participants, this event will symbolize the current generations’ respect towards their ancestors’ feat.
