Introduction of CDIO in Progress
The Department of Social Communications of ASU is going on introducing CDIO technologies into the educational process of Astrakhan State University. In particular, realization of students’ projects applying CDIO technologies has recently been finished at two Departments at the same time. The projects were supervised by Professor Sergey Khrapov.
Covering the discipline “Logics”, students of the Department of Philology & Journalism and of the Department of Social Communications have realized the following projects successfully: “Logic Degradation Processes in Modern Society: Future Journalist’s View” and “Logic Degradation Processes in Modern Society: Sociological Analysis”. Our students had to select and analyze process and phenomena of the public life that contradict laws of logics. Themes of their researches presented in electronic presentations have spanned a wide range of issues – from logic degradation process in youth subcultures and mass culture phenomena to gender issues. Assessment of their teamwork by means of a questionnaire as per CDIO criteria has become the final stage of the project work.
Our students have demonstrated a high level of their teamwork skills; they have remarked that the project-oriented approach not only makes the academic process more interesting, but also let them feel as real professionals when they are still students, which is one of the key CDIO tasks.
