China Getting Nearer

A delegation from the People’s Republic of China has visited Astrakhan State University.

Our distinguished guests have come from the Henan Province. The goal of their visit is to discuss issues of cooperation in the field of education and opportunities of academic exchange programs.

During the excursion up and down our University facilities, our guests have been demonstrated our achievements in various fields, as well as our material base for our educational process. The Chinese guests have visited our Assembly Hall, where a large group of Chinese students was having a lesson at that very time. The students came to Astrakhan State University thanks to an exchange program between China and Russia. They have met their country people wearing Russian traditional costumes and singing a Russian folk song.

Traditionally, Chinese students coming to ASU study the Russian language at our Department of Philology & Journalism. According to Prof. Lyudmila Kasyanova, Dean of the Department, Chinese students are responsible, well-disciplined, industrious, and willing to learn Russian the best way possible. Mastering the Russian language cannot get along without submerging into the Russian culture; that is why the Chinese students learn a lot of Russian folk songs and dances. Not long ago, they have represented the Department at the Socialization Projects Festival. Now they are getting ready for the upcoming contest in literature, so the distinguished guests from China have watched a girl from their own country recite a poem by Alexander Pushkin, Russia’s greatest and most famous poet, in the original. The name of the poem was “Winter Morning”. The recitation has caused a lot of applause, which has contributed to the friendly atmosphere for informal talks between the Chinese delegates and their country people studying at our University.
