Students of ASU Discuss Archeological Issues of Eastern Europe
Students of Astrakhan State University’s Historical Department have taken part in the 9th International Archeological Conference “Archeological Issues of Eastern Europe” that has recently been held in Rostov-on-Don.
Our students have given reports concerning excavations at the Samosdelka settlement (where remnants of Khazar Kingdom of the 9th and 10th centuries are located); their reports have been of profound interest among the participants and followed with continuous discussions. Marina Vakkasova, one of our students, has become a laureate in the section “Ethnologies & Ethnographies” after giving her report “Features of Cossacks’ Wedding Rite”. The jurors have also highly assessed reports by Anatoly Petrov and Maksim Taktashev, two other delegates of ASU.
Besides giving their reports, our students have taken part in the round-table talk “Ancient Migrations & Their Role in Cultural & Historical Process” that has been held in honor of Thor Heyerdahl’s 100th anniversary.
