Our Students Visit “Heart” of Astrakhan Region’s Power Industry
Students of the Department of Physics & Technology have been on a visit to the Astrakhan power networks control center of the Yuga Interregional Distribution Network Company.
Students covering the specialties “Electronics & Nanoelectronics” and “Electrical & Power Engineering” have learnt much about power controllers’ everyday work. Staff of the control center has told our students about the main types of activities undertaken by the Yuga Company, about its large-scale power projects and its development prospects. What has impressed our students most was a modern control map made as a 40-meter scheme that shows all the metropolitan feeders and power lines.
As Mr. Rustem Zaynutdinov, a faculty staff member of ASU’s Chair of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, & Automatics, has remarked, the excursion to the control center was not only listening to its staff’s lectures, but also taking an exam in fundamentals of power supply procedures and in first aid in case of an electric shock, which is crucial for their future profession.
According to officials of the Yuga Company, such events involving our students aim to stimulate their interest towards their future profession and to employ young talented specialists. Astrakhan Region’s power supply system is constantly developing; new technologies are introduced every year; new projects are being developed; that is why it is essential to employ skilled young specialists to work with their company.
